During October 2024, MET Ukraine began supplying electricity to Ukraine from Slovakia. The company is also planning to start supply from other EU member states neighbouring Ukraine.
Serdar Karliyev, CEO of MET Ukraine: “We strongly believe that the power business in Ukraine has a huge potential to grow. In addition to business rational, the electricity supply can help Ukraine cope with the ongoing energy deficit.”
MET Ukraine, with its office in Kyiv, was founded in 2016 and consists of a team of 7 employees. The main activity of MET’s Ukrainian subsidiary in the past 8 years used to be the supply of natural gas to wholesale consumers, as well as to the retail segment of the Ukrainian market. In addition, MET has been using Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
Together with MET Group’s subsidiaries in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, MET Ukraine also belongs to MET GEM (MET Gas and Energy Marketing) – which focuses on growing non-EU markets. MET GEM deals with market development in emerging natural gas markets of Southeastern Europe via cross-border transactions where it can provide flexible non-standard products, as well as potential subsidiary establishments.
Attila Szaniszló, CEO of MET GEM: “We have been supporting Ukraine, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina on their way to become fully integrated members of the European energy markets. We strongly believe that, sooner or later, these markets will be fully integrated with all required terms and conditions to the European energy markets.”
