Albania is closely connected to the regional power markets in which MET Group is already active. Establishing a physical presence in the country is a natural step towards deepening regional integration and supporting Albania’s energy security.
The new subsidiary will be led by Kreshnik Strati, a highly experienced Albanian business executive. He has held senior roles in both state‑owned enterprises and prominent private national and international energy companies. An engineer by training, Kreshnik Strati brings not only technical expertise, but also an in‑depth understanding of Albania’s energy landscape.
Hydropower is the dominant source of electricity generation in Albania, making the country’s energy supply highly dependent on hydrological conditions. To fulfil its power demand, Albania relies on cross-border imports and exports. MET Albania will focus on cross-border power operations and originating power wholesale deals with local counterparties to enhance market stability and security of supply.
MET Albania CEO Kreshnik Strati commented: “Albania is an emerging energy market in Southeast Europe with significant growth potential. By leveraging MET Group’s extensive experience, we will supply electricity reliably to our customers and contribute to enhance energy security in the region.”
