Kids spent a fun day at cool MET Group

Where does energy come from when I charge my phone, or my mum makes me pizza? On National Future Day, MET kids not only discovered the world of energy, but they also found out that the company was a “cool” place.

Explaining in a fun and playful way how energy surrounds us and makes the world go round – this is what MET did again this year on the National Future Day when colleagues’ children visited the Group’s Baar headquarters. The well-known Swiss initiative offers students in the 5th to 7th grades (10- to 12-year-olds) an opportunity to go to their parent’s place of work, promoting careers and life planning from a young age.

Do you have toys which work with batteries? All the kids were nodding their heads. After that, one of the MET experts could easily describe what energy storage means, and why batteries play a key role.

Another MET manager pointed out to his enthusiastic audience where the power charging our phones comes from. In fact, it was enough to ask a few questions – hands were quickly raised and answers provided.

No wonder that games and quizzes proved to be particularly popular. On a blank map of Europe, the children easily found all of the 20 European countries where MET Group has a subsidiary.

Probably one of the Baar office’s most exciting places, the trading floor, was also introduced to the young guests of the National Future Day. They saw traders working ‘in real time’ and, as one of the mums later revealed, her son now actually wants to be a trader.

Both the kids and their parents gave outstanding feedback about the day spent at MET headquarters. One of the parents whose son had already participated last year sent the following message to HR: “It was the second time you managed to make a fantastic day and experience for my son, for which I am very thankful”.

Another parent said that his child was really impressed by MET and thinks it is a “cool” place. What more could an energy company wish for than strong business results and a workplace where employees – and their families – thrive?
