Balázs Séra: MET Group’s commitment to innovation will be crucial for maintaining our leadership

“As prices consolidate and competition intensifies, market players who put their customers at the centre of their strategy will gain a competitive edge,” says Balázs Séra, VIP Key Account Manager of E2 Hungary (member of MET Group), who recently received the MET Excellence Award for his outstanding performance in 2024.

What was your first thought when you heard your name announced as one of the winners of the 2024 MET Excellence Awards?

Honestly, when Gergely Szabó, Regional Chairman of MET Central Europe Sales was called up to the stage, I started hoping that my name might be next. As he began speaking, it quickly became clear that he was referring to me. I had been waiting for this moment for years, so hearing my name felt almost unreal. My surprise was probably visible on my face, and I was deeply grateful that all the hard work had finally paid off.

What do you think is your greatest professional achievement?

As a salesperson, creating something truly lasting is challenging, but I believe that the exceptional business results I have achieved over the past 2 to 3 years represent a significant success story. Winning this award is the crowning achievement of these efforts, adding an extra layer of recognition to the hard work and dedication involved. Receiving the award has reinforced my passion for my profession within MET Group and given me even more motivation for future challenges.

Where do you see MET Group – and yourself – in five years?

In five years, I see MET Group continuing to expand its influence and strengthen its position as a leader in the energy industry. As prices consolidate and competition intensifies, market players who put their customers at the centre of their strategy will gain a competitive edge. MET Group’s commitment to innovation and customer-focused solutions will be crucial for maintaining our leadership and achieving important milestones. As for myself, I am planning to remain in the field of sales and contribute to the success of the organization while supporting my colleagues. I aim to deepen my expertise with the goal of playing a key role in achieving MET’s strategic objectives.

How do you ‘recharge your batteries’ outside of working hours?

For me, traveling is the ultimate way to unwind and recharge, I am always eager to explore new cultures and cuisines. I have visited 47 countries so far, creating countless lifelong memories, such as taking a fjord tour in the Svalbard archipelago, swimming with manta rays and whale sharks in the Maldives, and walking amongst mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan. However, the most magical experience was rescuing a newborn, dehydrated turtle from a hole on a beach in Oman.
