MET International AG attains Associate Membership status in GIIGNL

MET International AG (METI), the trading arm of MET Group, was officially inaugurated as an associate member at the 48th annual General Assembly of GIIGNL (International Group of Liquefied Natural Gas Importers) held on 12 November 2018 in Fukuoka, Japan.

Attaining membership in GIIGNL consolidates METI’s commitment and position as a player in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry. This achievement provides further recognition to METI as an LNG importer and player in the European Union, having imported a considerable amount of cargoes from 2016. Since the start-up of the LNG, METI has been able to leverage on MET Group’s multi-commodity downstream portfolio in order to increase LNG imports into the EU.

About GIIGNL

GIIGNL is a non-profit organization whose objective is to promote the development of activities related to LNG: purchasing, importing, processing, transportation, handling, re-gasification and its various uses. The Group constitutes a forum for exchange of information and experience among its members to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency of LNG imports activities and the operation of LNG imports terminals in particular. GIIGNL has a worldwide focus and its membership is composed of nearly all companies in the world active in the import and regasification terminalling of LNG. GIIGNL’s 83 members include Shell, BP, TOTAL, eni, Gazprom, Cheniere, JERA, KOGAS, CNOOC, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, etc. GIIGNL members handle more than 90% of LNG imports worldwide.
